Dr. Imran Shafiq bin Shahrol Anuar

Dr. Imran, Platinum Award Winner at the New York Music Awards 2026, is a medical doctor with a strong and enduring passion for both medicine and music, particularly in singing and cello performance. He began his musical journey on the cello before discovering his love for singing, developing a solid foundation across multiple vocal techniques including classical, jazz, and contemporary styles. His training in musical theatre has further enhanced his ability to convey emotion and narrative, combining singing and acting to bring stories to life on stage.

Music has long been a source of balance and rejuvenation for Dr. Imran, providing a creative outlet alongside his demanding medical career. In 2025, he completed the ABRSM (UK) Singing for Musical Theatre Grade 8 exam with distinction, reflecting his commitment to technical precision and expressive performance. Over the years, he has developed a versatile performance style that combines discipline, artistry, and emotional depth, allowing him to connect meaningfully with audiences across a wide repertoire. Dr. Imran continues to refine his craft under the guidance of his teacher, Ms. Jin Loh of Jin Loh Professional Music, who has mentored him for over 13 years in both singing and cello, playing a pivotal role in his artistic development.

Receiving the Platinum Award marks an important milestone in Dr. Imran’s  musical journey, recognising his commitment to excellence and artistic growth. He hopes that by sharing his journey, he can inspire younger generations to pursue their passions alongside professional or academic commitments. He is deeply grateful to the judges for recognising his potential and supporting his continued growth as an artist.
