Giuseppe Dugo
Italy· New York Music Award 2026 Season 2 Winner
Giuseppe Dugo is a clarinetist whose artistic voice moves fluidly between tradition and innovation, shaping a musical identity that is both refined and deeply expressive. Born in Syracuse, Italy, he has performed across Europe and South America, bringing his sound to stages in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Malta, and Argentina.
Equally at home as a soloist and orchestral musician, Dugo has interpreted cornerstone works of the clarinet repertoire, including Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto and Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie, with a distinctive sensitivity to color and phrasing.
His presence as principal clarinet in opera and symphonic productions has led him to collaborate with major institutions such as the Teatro Regio di Torino and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, engaging with repertoire that spans from Verdi and Puccini to contemporary composers. His artistic path is grounded in rigorous training and intellectual curiosity. He holds a Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy from the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano and graduated with highest honors from the “V. Bellini” Institute in Catania. His studies were further enriched under the guidance of Alessandro Carbonare at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
A prizewinner in numerous international competitions, Dugo has established himself as a compelling presence on the global stage. Alongside his performance career, he is deeply committed to teaching and artistic research. His pedagogical work includes publications such as “Need for Scales” and “Routine giornaliere – Metodo 20’x7,” reflecting his dedication to the development of future generations of clarinetists.
With a repertoire that bridges classical heritage and contemporary exploration, Giuseppe Dugo continues to craft performances that resonate with clarity, depth, and poetic intensity.
